Poems for Peace is an emotional, meditative peace manifesto by two saxophonists, Joakim Berghäll and Adele Sauros. The T.I.M. duo, formed through a Norwegian-French collaboration, cultivates fascinating experimental music in the spirit of folk. The compositions heard in the duo concert by Joakim Berghäll and Adele Sauros are based on anti-war poems written in different crisis regions around the world. Joakim Berghäll is a Helsinki-based musician-composer who avoids boundaries of all kinds. As a composer, he has written not only small-ensemble jazz compositions but also rhythmic orchestral and chamber music. Adele Sauros is one of the most active jazz musicians and composers in Finland and Europe today. This master of tenor and soprano saxophone regularly performs as a bandleader and musician in numerous ensembles, such as the Adele Sauros Quartet, Superposition, JAF Trio, Quite Vivian, Katu Kaiku, and Jonathan Bäckström's quartet. T.I.M. duo is a duo formed by Norwegian violinist Inger Hannisdal and French pianist Sébastien Palis. The duo's fascinating minimalism moves on the borderlands of folk music and improvisation; it alternates between light and shadow, blending acoustic expression with homemade electronics. Pianist, organist, accordionist, and composer Sébastien Palis has performed around the world and has also visited Finland several times with the acclaimed jazz quintet Papanosh, including in Salo in spring 2017. Inger Hannisdal is a violinist and Hardanger fiddle player working with folk music and improvisation. While living in Beirut, she became acquainted with Middle Eastern culture and performed with local musicians. Her works are based on the shared features of Norwegian folk music and Arab maqam music.
